I'm not so good at this stuff!

Dear Lily and Sam,
I want you to know that I've been thinking about you lots lately!  The problem is I keep thinking I want to do a blog post to you with fun pictures in it!  But I'm not so good at taking the pictures and putting them on my computer when I sit down to look at my computer in the evening!

Today I went to the doctor's office in the morning (blah - doctors are no fun!) and then I took Aunt Bethany's car to the shop.  I was at the car-fixing place yesterday, too - yesterday I got new tires put on, and  today I got her muffler fixed.  (blah, that wasn't much fun either)!  Later this week I can go back to Rochester and trade her for my car - I like to drive that better than Aunt Bethany's car!

I was getting all excited because we finally got a little bit of snow the day before yesterday.  It was only a couple of inches, but today, it was sunny and warm so all the snow melted away!  That's okay, though because when I took Aunt Stephie over to work at Meiklejohn's garage, I decided to take a walk around Denison Park.  I didn't want to drive home and back because she was only going to work for a half-hour - - but a half-hour is the perfect time for a walk and I could walk without freezing even with just my t-shirt and fleece sweater on (with jeans)!

I wonder if we are ever going to have any snow this winter!  It seems funny to be starting February and we've only had 2 or 3 days when it snowed - and even on those days, we got less than 3 inches of snow and it stuck around less than a week!  I promise to take pictures of outside if it ever does snow - I like the snow, it's very pretty!

Tomorrow, I have to get back downstairs to clean up the living room part of the basement.  We have Community Group from church coming on Thursday and it's pretty messy down there - I did put away all the Christmas stuff that was still out down there, but I need to really clean and also put away some other stuff that needs to be stored!  Maybe I will remember to take pictures of the mess and then take more pictures when I get done cleaning.

Well, I better get going!  I love you very much - please skype with me on the iPad soon!
Big HUGS!!!
Love,
Gigi

road trip!

Dear Lily and Sam,
This week Aunt Stephanie has no school because other kids at her school have to take Regents Exams, but she doesn't have any exams to take.  She likes it A LOT when she has no school and today I took her to college to visit Aunt Bethany for a couple of days.

We went to Rochester in the G6 - just like you did in October when you were visiting - but I did not get a speeding ticket today, because I am not used to driving on the Autobahn!  (tell mommy this is where she's supposed to smile!)  We picked up Aunt Bethany at her dorm and then we went to the other side of campus and picked up her car so I could drive that home after we went out to eat dinner.  So, then we drove to the restaurant - Chipotle Grill - and ate some delicious Mexican food.  Then I double-checked with Aunt Bethany about if she needed anything from her car (she said nope - and then she went back to college and I went to a nearby store to do a tiny bit of shopping).

About 15 minutes later, she called me and told me that she needed her student ID and her other keys that she had given me with her car key - - OOPS!  Good thing I hadn't started driving home yet!  She came back over to the area where we ate dinner and picked up her keys (except the car key) and then she went back to college all over again.  This time I was done shopping so I went home!

Aunt Stephanie gets to hang out with Aunt Bethany tomorrow and they are both going to come home on Thursday.  Then Aunt Steph will stay home and Aunt Beth will go back to college again!  I have to see if we can get new (but not too expensive) tires on Aunt Bethany's car.  She had a flat tire this weekend and realized that she (AND G-PA) could not get the tires off the car because the lug nuts were stuck too tight (rusted).  But since the tire was able to be blown back up, I brought it home to get it fixed instead of having it worked on in Rochester.

So, that's the silly story about the trip I took today!  I hope you are having a great day!
Love and HUGS!

a couple of pictures for you

Dear Lily and Sam,
How have you been this week?  I've been doing pretty good, but haven't had much to write about - nothing crazy fun is happening or anything like that!

Today at church we had to go to East High School instead of Kent Phillips.  I think they had problems with their pipes bursting at the 'regular' school (because nobody goes to school there any more).  But East High is where we used to have church so it seemed really weird to go there!

Could you please tell me the dates of Mom&Dad's anniversary trip?  I think I need to start getting tickets for flights to come to Germany and see you, and I definitely need to get everyone a passport real real soon!

Lily-bear, I love the pictures of you rocking your baby on the tree-top, but I think you need a bigger cradle or a littler baby.  I'm glad you are still keeping your curls as your hair gets longer!  It would be nice if they would stay forever, but I don't know if they will stay once you get your first haircut!

How do you like your new couch?  Is it comfy to sit on - or lay down on?  Today I took my Sunday afternoon nap in one of our new recliners!  It is SO comfy, I really liked my nap!  G-pa and I decided we should get 2 of the recliners so they are both here now and everyone seems to like them!  Here is a picture of Uncle Brother in one of the chairs - I made him pose for it just a few minutes ago when he came downstairs to get a snack before he went to bed!

Did Daddy and Momma stay up really late last night to watch the Patriots game?  G-pa was watching the game and I was online at 9:30 or so in my time - and Skype was telling me that "thejesses" were online.  I thought that was funny but I'll bet that at least Daddy was watching the game from across the ocean - and I bet he was really happy when the Pats won!  G-pa says he thinks the Patriots are playing really well right now and they will probably win the Super Bowl!  Are you going to have a Super Bowl Party at your house?  It's probably going to be on in the middle of the night at your house!  It goes pretty late at my house too - but right now we don't have cable going to our big TV, so I don't think we'll have a party at our house!  G-pa's been getting most of the games on our little TV in the bedroom, but for some reason the big TV won't pick up the same channels in the living room - - and I DON'T want to have a Super Bowl Party in my bedroom, that's for sure!

I will try to take some pictures of stuff we do this week and I will post them so you can see us all!  I love you forever and forever and forever!!!
Kisses,
Gigi

Saturdays

Dear Lily and Sam,
Today has been a lazy, nice Saturday!  I know you get to take a nap most days, but I can't take a nap most days during the week, so I particularly like weekends when I can have a nap.  Usually I try to get stuff done on Saturdays also!  Saturday isn't my laundry day - but I like to do a project around the house - sometimes it's cleaning or cooking or making something.  Today, I didn't really do much of a project:  Aunt Steph and I just filled the wood racks up after she came home from work!  But I did have a nice nap.

G-pa and I have a BIG project to do *sometime soon* because we have to clean out our basement.  Before Christmas it was getting to the point where you couldn't even walk in the utility room.  We did spend one day starting to clean it up, but we didn't finish it, and we haven't had a chance to get back down there and work on it any more.

In March, G-pa says we're going to start working on the new kitchen project - - THAT will be a really big project, and it will take more than Saturdays to get it done!  G-pa says we will start by taking out the wall between the kitchen and dining room and putting in the new support beam and the new island.  That way we will have a sink and dishwasher to use even when we tear out the other part of the kitchen.  I probably won't like having my kitchen torn apart, but I know I will like having the new kitchen when it gets done.

What's your favorite project to do with Mom & Dad on the weekends?

I like your new couch a whole bunch, and I can't wait to come to Germany and sit on it with you!  We will have to read stories on the couch - and maybe even take a nap!  Next time we skype, Momma says she's going to help me learn about putting pictures on my blog - that way you can see the stuff I write about!  I can't wait to talk to you on Skype sometime soon! I miss you and I love you both bunches!

love and kisses,
Gigi

slips and paper dolls

Dear Girlses,
I have to laugh at the things your mom's posting about on her blog lately!  And it's also a nice trip down memory lane for me.

Lillian, the paper dolls momma made you for Christmas are very special!  Your great-gramma made some a little bit like them for your momma when she was little.  When I come to visit you, I would like to play with your paper dolls with you also!  Great-Gramma was a fun gramma for your momma when she was younger and didn't lose her brain.  I wish she still had her brain now, but she doesn't - it's gone.  Now she doesn't even know who I am when I go to visit her.  Like today, she thought Aunt Bethany was one of her students from school, not her grand daughter.  She also doesn't brush her teeth any more, so she has super-yucky teeth.  I want to keep all my brains so that I can have fun with my grandkids for a long, long time!

Silly Sammy - you should keep your 'slips' on your feet!  They are very comfy and keep your feet warm.  If you keep taking one off, Momma's going to have to glue them to your toes - - no, not really, that wouldn't be a good idea at all!  But the reason I bought those good 'slips' for you was because they don't fall off your feet as much as other slippers!  keep them on so your piggy toes stay nice and warm!  Also, I see you've been working on growing hair!  I'm glad, although I do think you and Sis look quite beautiful with no hair - - at least this way people won't think you look like your G-pa!

I love you girls, so much!

school starts tomorrow for Aunt Stephanie!

Dear Lily and Sam,
Today was the last day of vacation for Aunt Steph - - tomorrow she has to go back to school.  She's a little bummed about going back to school, but I think she'll be okay!  Today she and Aunt Bethany went hiking with some camp friends because Aunt Steph needs to hike in a bunch of places for her personal project at school.  Oh - what am I talking about, they just love to hike and want to go every chance they get!

G-pa and Uncle Brother are also going back to work tomorrow, so just Aunt Bethany is still on vacation - she will probably be feeling bored because she is used to being BUSY all the time (or hiking - or planning a hike!)  I have to make some phone calls for my work too, but I don't have a new list so I'm not in a big hurry!

Lilybear - Thanks for writing back to me - I loved all your new words!  Did you sleep through all the fireworks on New Year's Eve?  Momma said that Daddy didn't have to work very long so she was looking forward to running errands with Daddy - - did they both go and take you girls or did Daddy stay home with you while Momma did her errands?

G-pa and I (and Aunt Steph) are doing a bit of a sugar fast like Momma posted on facebook - - we're pretty much working toward minimal sugar - - all the major sugar sources are gone from the house (no more cookies or candy!!) and we're not adding sugar to anything - - we didn't completely eliminate it, but we're going with G-pa's idea to 'reduce our sugar footprint'!  So far I don't feel better, but Momma's article said I would soon!  Did Mom take all your cook's away?!?!?!

Well, I need to get off to bed - I don't have to 'work' or go to school tomorrow, but I do have to get up to take Aunt Steph to school!  I'll talk to you again soon!

I love you both FOREVER!!!
Gigi
